Sea Chart of the World - Dedicated to Edmund Halley - 1700
Titled: " New and correct sea chart of the whole world showing variations of the compass as they were found during the year 1700"
This beautiful and incredibly rare sea chart was commissioned and dedicated to Edmund Halley by the Prince of Denmark for his service for the crown and the royal society. It features magnetic compass variations and trade winds and a inset map of the north pole.
- California depicted as an island and only 5 American colonies were shown.
- It still depicts the Syrian and Persian empire as well as the Chinese empire.
- The islands of Japan and Korea was still undiscovered.
- Australia was mostly undiscovered.
